ONE KL

94 Apartments
95 Swimming Pool

That's the tagline for One KL

The lift opens up to what I thought was a water feature. But nooooo, my real estate agent told me that's the so called swimming pool ! good gawd, the depth of the water is only up to my knee (and I'm not a very tall person)

Here's the kitchen (nothing interesting).

and the double volume living room (again, no wow factor).

Because of the trapezium building shape, the view from your bedroom is .... the fire escape and the aircon ledge. Looks like the architect did not pay attention to details like this. What an ugly sight ! According to its website, this building is designed by SCDA Architects, a world renown architect from Singapore. (oh well, must be an oversight from them)

You might notice that the plastering workmanship is wavy and patchy. Apparently, the design & build contractor is Shimizu Corporation,  a leading international construction firm, with reputation for ensuring only the best quality ... seriously ?!!

The developer sure didn't spend any effort in landscaping.

and ... here is the 95th swimming pool !!
miserable isn't it ? there's absolutely no view from the swimming pool, well .. unless you don't mind looking up at the air con ledge while doing your backstroke.

To be honest, it really isn't worth the price tag of RM 3.5 million onwards. But, the location is fantastic though, just a stone's throw from Suria KLCC, Mandarin Oriental and some nightspots on Jalan Pinang and Jalan P Ramlee. Also it doesn't hurt to know that Datuk Michelle Yeoh is your neighbour.

  1. The swimming pool is really appalling! They should have marketed it as ponds, targeting the fish lovers. And the kitchen could have easily passed off as an office. Not sure what the theme is here but the shot at contemporary is rather dissapointing given this luxurious address.

  2. You're right, being a SCDA design it's really disappointing, i think the only thing they were marketing was the 95 pools and they just forgot about everything else. the location of the services (ie. ac ledge) is just totally wrong.
i assume this is the show unit, the ID sucks. no imagination at all and with a double volume living room, there could have been so much more potential.
i think SCDA also did Park 7, wonder how that turned out...

  3. Well this is an actual unit :) so no comments on the ID for me.

As for Park Seven, it is one of the better developments in KLCC and it's developed by Selangor Dredging Berhad, with a personal touch by their MD Teh Lip Kim. The architect is Chan Sau Yan (who is her cousin). It was also one of the first few condos in KL that is earthquake resistant. Completed in 2008 and have heard many good reviews about it. Hmm, I will get my real estate agent to bring me there.

  4. This residential tower is C-shaped so as to make the best use of a tight urban site. The missing fourth elevation draws the wind, negative pressure pushing it up the void and cross ventilating the structure through the cuts made by the terraces and pools.
The dual aspect of each apartment has other advantages. It brings light into all rooms and creates what is probably architecturally the most interesting space – the void with its dramatic escape stairs.
